Meet Your Trichologist

Demi Griffiths is a fully qualified and registered Trichologist. She has had intense training through Trichocare Education and qualified, achieving the Level 4 ITECH Certificate in Trichology, in March 2019. Her qualification is from the only accredited Trichology course in the UK.

Demi is a member of the WTS, The World Trichology Society. This organisation is for qualified Trichologists ensuring the best practice and service is delivered to all patients. All WTS members are bound by a strict code of ethical conduct.

Demi is also a multi-award winner, winning the Trichocare Developement Award 2019 , Gold Entrepeneur of the Year award 2021 at The British Hair & Beauty awards, and Midlands Hair Loss clinic of the year 2023. Demi originally trained to be a Hairdresser with Keith Hall Training School, and has had a successful career, owning her own salon for more than 20 years.

Her journey into Trichology began when she started to lose her own hair. After visiting her GP several times, the only outcome was being told ‘ it’s your age’ , and being only 31 years old at this time, this wasn’t something she wanted to accept. Following further research Demi found a Trichologist on Harley Street in London, but after 4 extremely costly visits still came away with no specific diagnosis.

With the hair loss continuing to get worse she visited her GP one last time desperate and distraught, and was eventually, after much persuasion, referred privately to a Dermatologist. Upon visiting the Dermatologist she was diagnosed with female pattern hair loss. A common genetic condition, but rarely seen so severely in a woman of her age. The Dermatologist informed her at this point that the Trichologist would have been able to diagnose this upon her first visit.

Although the Dermatologist was able to give diagnosis, there was no further information given as they are skin specialists and not hair specialists. This left her feeling frustrated that had she had been treated so unethically by a Trichologist, but also frustrated as she had so many unanswered question and so little information regarding her diagnosis.

At this point with no alternative but to turn to the internet, she started to not only research her condition but also to look into Trichology itself. With already having a passion for hair, there was now a passion and desire to learn more about Trichology, but most of all to be able to help other people in a similar situation and stop others being exploited and not receiving the help and advice they need and deserve.

Fast forward a few years, a lot of extremely hard work and intensive training, Demi qualified as a Consultant Trichologist, then going on to be a double award winner, winning the Development award from The Association Of Registered Trichologists in June 2019, and also the Gold Entrepreneur of the Year award at The British Hair & Beauty Awards 2021. She has also written articles for several magazines and featured on Radio Derby and the BBC.

Demi’s journey has been one of personal anxiety and frustration. But this has led to a journey of determination, positivity and proud achievements. This gives her the complete understanding and ability to empathise with anybody who is faced with the prospect of losing their hair, but most of all gave her the drive to be the best Trichologist she could possibly be!
